I was just sitting here thinking to myself: “We need more Canadian superheroes.” I’m sure that thought has crossed a lot of minds, hasn’t it? Be honest now… You see I’m a proud American but I can’t help but love almost anything that comes out of Canada. Alright… I’m going to be honest with you guys… I never thought to myself that we need more Canadian superheroes.. but now that I am thinking about it I’m thinking it’s not such a bad idea!
Especially when said superheroes are coming from the combined minds of Christian Viel and Anderson Bradshaw! Oh I’m not kidding folks. I’m talking about HEROES OF THE NORTH, a new web-series heading our way from Koldcast TV and Movie Seals Digital. Starting August 2nd HEROES OF THE NORTH will air on Koldcast TV. The series will span 20 episodes and will air bi-weekly on Mondays. Each epsiode, told in both English and French, will run between 3 and 6 minutes. So what’s this bad boy about? Check it:
Heroes of the North follows a group of Canadian superheroes as they fight deadly foes including the infamous MEDUSA, a worldwide terrorist organization run by former Nazi scientist Dr. Josef Mengele.
Yes, they even found a way to add Nazis to the mix. Now that’s impressive. “The series features a live-action superhero plot with a truly Canadian point of view yet maintains an international appeal through fast paced, action-packed storytelling. The first season will be told through 20 episodes, a novella, 2 video games and 4 digital comic books, offering a multi-platform transmedia experience for viewers.” Damn! That’s some package! Creator Christian Viel adds:
“The idea was to put together a show that deals with heroes within a modern Canadian reality, showing that there is more to Canada than mounties, moose hunting and igloos. We created a Canadian show that is highly entertaining, funny, sexy and loaded with action - something that is not traditionally associated with Canada. We had to stretch our Canadian dollar very thin but still managed to pull off a series featuring an ensemble cast of superheroes and super villains. Small budget perhaps, but we promise big effects, thrilling themes, great costumes and a very sexy cast! We are proud of what we’ve managed to accomplish despite our limited resources, and we hope you will enjoy the show at least as much as we had fun making it.”
