One movie I’m very much looking forward to, as I’m sure most of you are as well, is WORLD WAR Z. Now this is of course based on Max Brooks’ novel and last we heard Marc Foster was set to direct a script by J. Michael Straczynski. Well that doesn’t seem to be the case anymore!
Foster seems to still be a lock to direct this bad boy but Max Brooks himself let loose the tidbit to Fangoria that Matthew Michael Carnahan is currently hard at work on another draft of the script. Brooks pegs Carnahan as ‘one of Hollywood’s hot A-list writers’ but he’s only got a few credits under his name right now including THE KINGDOM, LIONS FOR LAMBS and STATE OF PLAY. All fairly respectable flicks…. but why the change? Brooks doesn’t divulge much aside from the fact that Paramount and Brad Pitt’s Plan B Production have already invested a ton of money in himself, Straczynski and Carnahan so he speculates they just want to get this thing made. So what do you think is the real reason they’ve gone and hired another writer? Go ahead and spit some bullets below to let us know your theories!
I just started reading WORLD WAR Z and I was already loving it two pages in so I can just imagine how much I’m going to enjoy reading this one. The book takes place ten years after the human victory over the world wide Zombie epidemic, referred to as World War Z. The novel is a world-wide collection of stories and experiences of those who have survived the conflict that almost eradicated humanity. I’m guessing we can expect this one to hit the big screen sometime in late 2010… at least I hope so. In the meantime keep it here for updates on WORLD WAR Z as we hear them!
