It was just a couple months ago that we got a look at teaser posters for [REC] sequels [REC] GENESIS and [REC] APOCALYPSE and here we are with some distribution news already! Yikes that was quick. [REC] 2 hasn’t even made the rounds yet!
But alas it seems the French waste little time. Accoridng to Variety, Le Pacte and Wild Side Films have already snatched up [REC] GENESIS and [REC] APOCALYPSE for French distribution. Considering these things aren’t even underway yet details are very scarce. What we do know is this:
[REC] GENESIS will be directed by Paco Plaza and will explore the origins of the diabolic zombie mutant virus partially explained in [REC] 2.
[REC] APOCALYPSE will be directed by Jaume Balaguero.
Just because these bad boys got picked up for distribution doesn’t mean we’ll be seeing them anytime soon though. GENESIS isn’t geared to hit until Fall 2011 and APOCALYPSE is penciled in for a year later in Fall 2012! Of course we’ll be keeping our eyes and ears open for [REC] goods every step of the way so be sure to keep it here for updates!
