Next week on a very special Star Wars…

As if THE CLONE WARS wasn’t embarrassing enough, Lucasfilm is prepping an animated sitcom that would take place in the STAR WARS universe. Take all the time you need to reread that last sentence. Lest you think this might not mean what you think it means, director Todd Grimes said of the project, “The Star Wars universe is so dense and rich; it’s crazy to think that there aren’t normal, mundane everyday problems in a world so well-defined. And it’s even crazier to think of what those problems might be, since it’s all set in a galaxy far, far away.”

Maybe they could have Sio Bibble get into a car accident with Bib Fortuna and because he doesn’t have car insurance the intergalactic judge sentences him to be his butler. I mean that’s the only way this could work, right? If they go completely over-the-top with sitcom cliches and have a completely cheesy opening theme song (like this)?

But that’s probably not gonna happen. Seth Green and Matthew Seinrich, creators of “Robot Chicken,” will have “creative involvement” but it’s unclear how big or little that involvement will be. So what do you think? Is this idea OK with you or is it just another Lucas money move?
