They teamed up to make one of the purest examples of testosterone-powered 90s action excess, and now CON AIR’s mulleted hero Nicolas Cage and director Simon West are getting back together for a new project called MEDALLION.
Previously planned as a starring vehicle for Clive Owen (and then Jason Statham), the movie will now instead feature Cage as a former thief who has “only a few hours to find his daughter when she is kidnapped and locked in the trunk of a New York medallion taxi cab.”
The story, as you can deduce, is described as being in the vein of TAKEN. And the whole thing will be a crushing disappointment without at least one slo-mo fleeing-from-fireball moment. The script comes from hot writer David Guggenheim, who also has the Denzel Washington/Ryan Reynolds thriller SAFE HOUSE in the works.
MEDALLION is being put together by Millennium Films, who also worked with Cage on THE WICKER MAN and the upcoming DRIVE ANGRY.
