File this under “holy shit, now I actually care about THE CROW remake”. The Wrap is reporting that the legendary Nick Cave is currently re-writing the screenplay for Stephen Norrington’s reboot of the franchise.
For the uninitiated, Cave is best known for his music, having been in the business for well over thirty years. (Check out his Wikipedia page, which does him more justice than I can.) But truthfully, what gets me excited is that Cave also has an awesome screenplay to his credit: John Hillcoat’s THE PROPOSTITION, which is a hard-edged, remorseless and violent tale – one of the most kick-ass westerns you’ll ever see.
The Wrap learned about Cave’s involvement via the film’s producer, Edward Pressman, so it looks like the scoop is rock solid. The extent of Cave’s re-write isn’t mentioned, but it must be major, because the guy isn’t your typical hack script doctor. Back in June, Pressman said that the aim is to shoot the film this year, but now with a new script being written, that may not be feasible.
More details on this as they come in…
