OCTOBER HORROR MOVIE MADNESS!

It's been a tough year for a lot of us, am I right? And yet even still, I find myself very much looking forward to Halloween. Perhaps there is just a need for normality that we're all searching for, but once October 1st arrived, the need to decorate did too. With only a few days into the month, I've been on a heavy dose of horror movie watching. It started with the upcoming, and surprisingly fantastic, horror-fantasy LOVE AND MONSTERS starring Dylan O'Brien – this one arrives on VOD and in theatres this Friday and I highly recommend this charmingly cool flick. And if you happen to be in the mood for a couple of other new release treats, Jim Cummings' THE WOLF OF SNOW HOLLOW and the weird and wild POSSESSOR UNCUT from Brandon Cronenberg are perfect flicks to take in over the next couple of weeks.

In addition to romantic monster tales, werewolves, and mindf*ck flicks, the staple viewings have already begun. This year I've already watched the original HALLOWEEN, the first six FRIDAY THE 13TH's, and THE THING. My October movie watching also happens to include a few fine treats. I've witnessed like THE GIRL WITH ALL THE GIFTS, the 1976 Sergio Martino shocker ALL THE COLORS OF THE DARK, and the goofy slasher MORTUARY. All of which have been on my radar, and with a little extra movie viewing time this year, I've finally experienced them. Things may be terrifying in the real world, but that means that perhaps we should find a few simple pleasures and have a fright-filled evening at home and catch a horror flick… or 31.

If you're a fan of Nick Groff's, you are likely aware that he's extra busy promoting his awesome new show Death Walker. However, as busy as he's been, even he has a few favorite flicks that he takes in every year when things get spooky. Recently, the subject of holiday horror movies came up. How many of you find yourselves putting together a collection of flicks that you watch every time this season rolls around?  Some people create a list, some just go with something they haven't seen, and others ride the genre wave and go with the flow taking in what looks intriguing. With that said, Nick has a few movies to suggest, ones that help make his Halloween complete. So sit back, turn out the lights and get the popcorn ready, because Halloween is on its way! And of course, leave your favorite holiday flicks in the comments below!

My absolute favorite time of the year is Halloween! I love the month of October and the build-up. Haunted houses, paranormal topics, and crazy hayrides through creepy forests always thrill me. The best part about it is the horror films. The Sixth Sense, Devil’s Backbone, Insidious, The Others, The Conjuring are some well thought out haunted house movies. Beetlejuice, Ghostbusters, Ghost Story, Ghost, etc..are some fun movies that also grab my attention!

There are so many paranormal-based flicks to watch and horror movies to get under your skin. My love for film runs deep so October is extra exciting because of the mix. I’ve seen so many horror films it’s crazy. My top movie is still “The Exorcist”! As I grow older it creeps more into my brain and makes me think about the possibilities of a negative entity that can destroy your life, which is scary! There’s been a ton of movies on the subject but The Exorcist portrays it very well.

It feels like October every month for me while traveling to different Haunted locations with real paranormal stories. October is the time of the year where I can be one with the bizarre happenings. It’s fun to journey into haunted locations and tell ghost stories. Life is meant to be thrilling. Experience the weird and embrace the night. Enjoy your Halloween, keep exploring the unknown, and remember not to give gremlins food after midnight…
