Nick Groff Investigates… The Washoe Club Part 1

Nick Groff is one of the most respected names in television and beyond when it comes to the paranormal. He has had incredible experiences in some of the most haunted locations in the world. As a friend to Arrow in the Head, we’ve shared some very exciting experiences with Nick including a couple of wild and spooky moments that we’ve managed to capture on camera. Thus, we’ve decided to work with the television host and producer extraordinaire so he can share his knowledge and insight on all things that go bump in the night. With this bi-monthly column, we plan to delve into everything from urban legends to ghostly apparitions, to his take on some of the coolest genre flicks ever. This is Nick Groff Investigates…!

THE WASHOE CLUB (PART 1)

This past weekend, I had a bit of an adventure. It was strange and creepy, yet it was also pretty damn incredible having the opportunity to join up with a wonderful group of folks that I’m proud to call friends. My pal Ryan Cultrera and I ventured out on a road trip to one of the most fascinating locations I’ve ever had the privilege to visit. We left early in the AM on Friday morning, and made our way to Virginia City, Nevada. While I had been here before, it was a first for Ryan. Not only was I excited for him to witness this quiet little town, but I was also thrilled that he was going to be working with friend to Arrow in the Head, Nick Groff.

Once we arrived, we met with Nick, Tara Bohren, Ryan McLeod, Justin Narragon and later on, Stacy Iardella. I can honestly say that you can’t find a cooler group of people to spend time with. Why were we there? Well, I’m happy to say that Nick is back to investigate a familiar place for those who have been following his career. The Washoe Club is one of those locations that is filled with undeniable energy. Not only was it return for the Nick Groff Tour, it was also a personal journey for Mr. Groff himself. Even with my own limited history with Washoe, it’s very easy to connect to this incredible little town.

Usually, when I write Nick Groff Investigates, I don’t always have the personal experience. Thankfully, this time I do have my own relationship with Washoe, and a few stories to tell of my own. However, since there is so much to share, this will be the first of a two part story on what happened while investigating this fascinating haunt. In fact, I will even expand on one of the most intense experiences I’ve ever had. This particular event took place at the Mackay Mansion – we were especially grateful to Halen Dessaussois and Katie Hughes for giving Ryan and I a private tour, one that turned out to be especially powerful for myself. After suffering a slight neck injury, I found that this mansion gave me a very clear warning. It was absolutely unforgettable and kind of amazing, but more on that next time.

If you’ve followed Nick’s career, you are probably at least a little bit aware of his many experiences with The Washoe Club. To start off, I wanted to have him open up about how his view has changed on this especially creepy one time "Millionaire’s Club." What draws him back? Why does he connect so heavily with this tiny little Nevada town? Since there is so much to tell, this is only part one of Nick’s return to Virginia City, Nevada. As well, if you happen to love paranormal experiences, I highly recommend going there to explore yourself. And make sure you stay at the Silverland Inn and Suites. The staff is about as nice as you could possibly imagine, and you’ll get to hear a ton of spooky stories from those that live there. So let us begin with part one of Nick Groff Investigates… The Washoe Club.

“Virginia City, Nevada has been a second home to me for a decade now. A lot of my paranormal experiences began in the old mining town. Rich in history and almost everybody I’ve crossed paths with in the town has a story to share. If the buildings could talk there would be an overflow of information to communicate. I’ve been researching and investigating the unexplainable in Virginia City to further document new activity and to see if there’s a change every time I’m back. What I’ve learned is there’s a difference in activity as if the energy evolves and becomes more intelligent. I also feel certain buildings like the Washoe Club hold memories or bend time and ripple effect the environment.

When I recently investigated the Washoe Club I felt a connection stronger than before with the energy that I crossed paths with in certain rooms. I saw myself in the past with a digital recorder capturing my voice saying “Nick Groff” while standing in a room in present time. This sparks my interest for the time theory slipping into reality.

This experience has changed my views slightly with my first reaction being strictly [that it’s] a ghost. I’ve learned over time to evolve my mind to think outside the box in order to question the unexplainable until I discover the real reason why these things are happening.

A part of me will always be in Virginia City and as I grow older I hope to one day document new evidence of these theories. The living in Virginia City are always welcoming and very nice and the other side is ready to communicate when stepping into the town. I’ll keep searching for new discoveries as time moves forward in my life. I highly recommend visiting the town and take a step back in time.”
