Nick Jonas to be welcomed back to the jungle for Sony’s Jumanji sequel

Just when you thought that Sony's sequel to 2017's JUMANJI: WELCOME TO THE JUNGLE couldn't get any more legit, it's been announced that Nick Jonas will officially be reprising his role as Alex aka Jefferson "Seaplane" McDonough for the follow-up feature. News of Jonas boarding the highly-anticipated project comes just after it was confirmed that the teen cast from the original – Ser’Darius Blain, Madison Iseman, Morgan Turner, Alex Wolff – are also set for another round of Sony's money-printing franchise. Of course, all of the aforementioned stars will play the dangerous game alongside previously-announced castmates Dwayne Johnson, Jack Black, Kevin Hart, Karen Gillan, Awkwafina, Danny DeVito, and Danny Glover.

For the time being, Sony is playing their plans for the Jumanji sequel very close to their chests, so it could be a while before we're clued into the details of the film's official plot. The silver lining of this situation is that JUMANJI: WELCOME TO THE JUNGLE helmer Jake Kasdan is set to direct the sequel from a script that he co-wrote with Scott Rosenberg and Jeff Pinkner. Additionally, Kasdan, Matt Tolmach, and Seven Bucks execs Johnson, Dany Garcia, and Hiram Garcia are producing, so you already know that this new film will be of the same quality as the original – if not better!

How do you think what is technically the third Jumanji movie will open? Will the teens return to the mysterious and deadly video game willingly? Could the sequel revolve around some manner of rescue mission? Or, has the game of Jumanji evolved into some kind of supernatural phenomenon that perpetually haunts players until each of their lives have been lost? Wait a minute … is Jumanji actually a family-friendly horror film of sorts? Whoa. I'm feeling very Keanu Reeves cira 1989 right now. Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.
