Nick Nolte will play the Watcher Samyaza in Darren Aronofsky’s Noah

Another actor has joined Darren Aronofsky's NOAH, and it's the one and only Nick Nolte. Aronofsky announced the news this morning on his Twitter, with an image of the actor. Nolte will play Samyaza, who in the Book of Enoch is the leader of a group of angels called Watchers. They later become fallen angels after fornicating with mortal women. Samyaza and the other angels' offspring with the women were also the giants the ravaged the world before God caused the giant flood featured in NOAH.

You might be wondering why Nick Nolte has been cast in NOAH since the film is scheduled to hit theaters in a couple of months. Nick Nolte will probably be voicing the character, and not actually playing him. If you look at the picture above, you can see some sort of rock creature behind Nolte, which might be how Samyaza will be portrayed in the film. Mark Margolis (Breaking Bad, BLACK SWAN) was originally cast as Samyaza, and there's no word on why Nick Nolte will now be voicing the character instead.

Speaking of NOAH, Russell Crowe recently watched the film and shared how much he enjoyed it on his Twitter. Of course he'd say it was fantastic since he also stars in NOAH, but I still think it's a great sign for Darren Aronofsky's new film.

NOAH also stars Jennifer Connelly, Emma Watson, Anthony Hopkins, Ray Winstone, and Kevin Durand, and is scheduled to be released on March 28th, 2014.
