Nicolas Cage’s next film will find him rescuing a truffle-hunting pig

Over the years, Nicolas Cage has appeared in his share of, shall we say, unique films; while some have been wondrous and bizarre, others have simply been bad, but I've got my fingers crossed that the actor's next project will be one of the former. Deadline has reported that Nicolas Cage and Alex Wolff will be starring in PIG, a new film which will be written and directed by Michael Sarnoski based upon a story he co-wrote with Vanessa Block.

PIG, which kicked off production today, follows a truffle hunter played by Nicolas Cage who lives alone in the Oregonian wilderness. When his beloved foraging pig is kidnapped, he must journey into Portland – and his long-abandoned past – to recover her. I mean, I know it's just a short synopsis, but my mind can't help but be filled with images of Nicolas Cage going all John Wick in order to get his truffle pig back. I love it. At the moment, there's no word on what sort of role Alex Wolff will be playing. "What began as a very personal project has transformed into a labor of love for so many talented people. I’m thrilled for us all to be bringing this strange world to life," said director Michael Sarnoski in a statement. Vanessa Block added, "Sometimes a unique set of circumstances exists for the telling of a pure human story. The creative alchemy of a phenomenal cast and crew has further actualized this magic we’re eager to share with others." Thomas Benski, CEO of Pulse Films, who will be producing PIG alongside BlockBox Entertainment, Valparaiso Pictures, Saturn Pictures, Escape Artists, and Sweet Tomato Films, said:

Michael’s vision for Pig is a true testament of his unique voice as a writer/director, and one that we can’t wait to introduce to audiences across the world. Having such an incredible cast attached, led by Nicolas Cage and supported by Alex Wolff, speaks directly to the special nature of the story Michael and Vanessa have devised. At Pulse Films, our focus has always been to work with the best talent and bring forward the best stories, Pig represents precisely that. We are thrilled to be working with such great partners on this project.

Nicolas Cage was recently seen in COLOR OUT OF SPACE, which debuted at the Toronto International Film Festical earlier this month, and you can check out a review from our own Chris Bumbray right here. As for Alex Wolff, he'll soon be back on the big-screen in JUMANJI: THE NEXT LEVEL on December 13, 2019, but he's also starring in THE CAT AND THE MOON on October 25, 2019, a drama which he wrote and directed.
