Nicholas D’Agosto joins Gotham as Harvey Dent/Two-Face

I watched the pilot and second episode of Gotham back-to-back as I try to do with most new shows; I think it was the smart thing to do with this one considering I felt the pilot was a bloated mess of ideas and winks while the second episode was riveting and worthy of the name. Among the multitude of characters including young versions of The Penguin, Poison Ivy, Selina Kyle, and many others, we haven’t yet seen or heard from Harvey Dent aka Two-Face. Nicholas D’Agosto (Masters Of Sex) has now joined the cast as Harvey Dent; he will be recurring this season with an option to become a regular in Season 2.

Gotham executive producer Bruno Heller had the following to say about Harvey Dent:

We’re playing Harvey Dent slightly older. He’s more Gordon’s age in this telling. One of the things to avoid in order not to tell a high school story — which would be great, but it’s a different show on a different network at a different time that I would not be a part of. But he will go back to school and villains will be part of that world.

Nicholas has been cast as the “handsome, warm and engaging" Assistant District Attorney whose sole mission is to eradicate the crime and corruption that has poisoned Gotham. David Zayas was recently cast as Mob Boss Salvatore Maroni, the man responsible for disfiguring Dent; he can be seen in the October 13th episode titled Arkham. Only time will tell if and when Dent becomes the white knight of Gotham, or the hideous villain.

Have you been watching the show? What do you think so far?
