Just a few months after the announcement of Nicolas Winding Refn’s THE NEON DEMON, it looks like the film has found its leading lady in Elle Fanning, reports The Wrap. Although details on Refn’s upcoming trip into the world of horror are pretty slim, we do know that Fanning’s character is an aspiring model who is caught in a world of beauty and demise. Mysterious, this one.
“Elle Fanning is a super cool wonder woman and I look forward to going on a terrifying trip with her into ‘The Neon Demon,’” said Refn. It's hard to put a finger on where THE NEON DEMON is headed because of the lack of details, but Refn's unique stye and vision certainly lends itself to the horror genre and I can't wait to see what he has in store.
Written by Refn and newcomer Mary Laws, THE NEON DEMON is a female-driven horror film that the director’s longtime producing partner Lene Borglum will produce via their Space Rocket banner. French titans Gaumont and Wild Bunch are co-financing the film, which will start production in March in Los Angeles. The two companies began selling the project at AFM last fall.
