NIN tv show in the works?

I haven’t listened to much NINE INCH NAILS in the past couple years, only because nowadays I’m an easy-listening kinda guy. You know, Lionel Richie, Bolton… That shite…

You can stop gagging now, I kid! (Although Lionel is a cool mofo.) I used to love the NAILS in my high school years, and I like knowing Trent is still rockin’ it. Apparently, the man is ready to branch out, and plans on turning his ambitious 2007 album, YEAR ZERO, into a t.v. show, according to a very brief tidbit in this interesting article in the New York Times. Longtime Quentin Tarantino producer Lawrence Bender is also involved.

Here’s the concept album’s “storyline”, according to Wiki (again, saving my ass): Even though the fictional story begins in January 2007, the timeline of the album and alternate reality game mentions historical events, such as September 11 attacks and the Iraq War. From there, fictional events lead to worldwide chaos, including bioterrorism attacks, the United States engaging in nuclear war with Iran, and the elimination of American civil liberties at the hands of the fictional government agency The Bureau of Morality.

If that’s not a horror story, I don’t know what is… Let’s hope this challenging vision of the future finds a channel willing to air it. And soon! (I’m looking at you, Nickelodeon…)
