Nine Inch Nails to score Damon Lindelof and HBO’s Watchmen series

Nine Inch Nails duo Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross, who've lent their superb skills for creating atmospheric glitch metal soundtracks to films like THE SOCIAL NETWORK,  THE GIRL WITH THE DRAGON TATTOO and GONE GIRL, have recently announced that they'll be providing the score for Damon Lindelof and HBO's upcoming WATCHMEN TV series. This new deal marks the first time that Reznor and Ross will be involved in the creation of music for a scripted TV series. In stepping back from this development, did any of us who've followed the band since the days of their Pretty Hate Machine debut ever think that NIN would be occupying this manner of spotlight? It's remains wild to me that the scrappy industrial rocker who once told me that he wanted to "fuck me like an animal" is currently hanging among other notable film and television composers. Head like a hole indeed. Those NIN boys are quite savvy if you ask me.

HBO's WATCHMEN, which is scheduled for a 2019 premiere, is expected to present fans of Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons’ legendary limited comic book series with an alternate history where “superheroes” are treated as outlaws. Yes, there are some who would prefer that this re-invention of the series be an elaborate re-telling of the classic tale, though Lindelof has stated on numerous occasions that fans should be looking forward to experiencing something new with regard to his version. Essentially, fans should consider it a "remix" of sorts, as opposed to a straight-forward adaptation of the original.

In the show, a group of heroes known as the Watchmen encounter a massive, deadly conspiracy while investigating the murder of one of their own.. Set to star in the highly-anticipated (and inevitably overly-scrutinized) WATCHMEN TV series are Yahya Abdul-Mateen IIAdelaide ClemensFrances FisherLouis Gossett Jr.Andrew HowardJeremy Irons, Don Johnson, Regina King, Jacob Ming-Trent, Tom Mison, Tim Blake Nelson, Dylan Schombing, Lily Rose-Smith, Adelynn Spoon and Sara Vickers.
