There are so many horror remakes out there and the news of another remake seems to piss all of us off, so I thought the news of A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET not being remade would be a bit of a relief to all. According to Wes Craven, he knows nothing about a remake. And Craven also says “I don’t know whether it’s inevitable.”
That gives me hope at least, hopefully Craven isn’t being kept in the dark on anything, although he doesn’t rule it out. “I wouldn’t be surprised but I haven’t heard anything. Seriously, I haven’t heard anything but that doesn’t surprise me. They own the franchise. Nobody called me on “Freddy Meets Jason” either, so it’s their piece of property.” But for now we can all breath a collective sigh of relief, as in days where HALLOWEEN and every other classic is being remade, for now we are free of a Freddy reboot.
Unfortunately Craven is working on getting SHOCKER and PEOPLE UNDER THE STAIRS remade instead. But at least Freddy isn’t getting remade…for now.
