Writer Adam Stone is seeking a court order to stop the release of Paul W.S. Anderson’s DEATH RACE this Friday. Stop it? But why? Stone is filing a copyright infringement lawsuit, claiming that the film is close a script he wrote called JOUST, which Stone pitched to Anderson before Anderson turned it down.
I’m not a fan of Anderson, but (from the sounds of it) DEATH RACE may be one of this first flicks (besides EVENT HORIZON) that doesn’t suck assholes. If that’s the case, then it would kind of make sense that he stole from another writer, as he’s proven he can’t write shit for himself that’s worth watching. But that’s just my theory!
Stick around as we wait to see what happens. In the meantime, you may want to have alternative plans for this Friday if you’re all set to see DEATH RACE. You never know, this guy might actualy succeed and the flick will have to be pushed back until this legal mumbo-jumbo is cleared up. As an alternative, may I suggest seeing THE DARK KNIGHT again…
