No Vacancy for West

Simon West, who wowed us with CON AIR, and dissapointed us in everything else since, including the recent horror remake WHEN A STRANGER CALLS is gearing up to direct another psychological thriller… which at least sounds cool enough to redeem himself after all these years.


The flick’s called VACANCY, and it’s about a couple who get stranded and are forced to stay in a remote motel in the middle of buttf*ck nowhere. Which wouldn’t be bad except that they find out the folk running the motel are into making snuff films… starring their unlucky tenants.


Creepy fun, right? Almost like taking 8MM and HARDCORE and splicing it with HOSTEL. I could be wrong, but West could make good on his name and deliver something disturbing, sick and twisted. Probably not, since he sucks, but one can hope, right?


The flick’s set to start filming in June, with Hal Lieberman producing (same guy who brought us TERMINATOR 3). I just hope they understand the grittiness of the content, and deliver a movie that will have most people squirming in their seats. We shall see, oh yes… we shall see.
