Better call Badass Bob!

This weekend saw some bloody action at the box office as the R-rated movie NOBODY opened in first place with an estimated $6.7 million.

The Universal release, starring "Better Call Saul" and "Breaking Bad" lawyer Bob Odenkirk as an assassin drawn out of retirement, also opened in several international territories last weekend and now has a worldwide total of $11.7 million. 

Directed by Ilya Naishuller (HARDCORE HENRY), the new thriller takes a few pages from the Book of John Wick — the NOBODY script is from JOHN WICK series writer Derek Kolstad, and it's produced by the first movie's co-director David Leitch.

The movie (which also features Connie Nielsen, RZA, Christopher Lloyd and Michael Ironside) was originally scheduled for domestic release in August 2020, but was delayed due to the pandemic and then bounced around the calendar a few times before arriving this weekend.

Critics seemed to enjoy witnessing the violent side of the comedic actor, giving the movie an average of 79% on Rotten Tomatoes and a Metacritic score of 65. Tussle with the JoBlo review right HERE.

After holding the top spot for three weekends, the animated fantasy RAYA AND THE LAST DRAGON moved to second place with $3.5 million. Disney's PG-rated adventure (still available to stream on Disney+ for extra cost) has a domestic total of $28.3 million and a worldwide total of $90.4 million.

In third place was the PG-rated animated/live-action hybrid TOM & JERRY with $2.5 million. After five weekends (and just as it's about to disappear from the HBO Max streaming service), Warner Bros.' $79 million cat-and-mouse comedy has a domestic total of $37 million and $85.3 million worldwide.

Director Doug Liman's sci-fi adventure CHAOS WALKING was in fourth place with $1.18 million on its fourth weekend in theaters. The PG-13 Tom Holland/Daisy Ridley thriller has a domestic total of $11.4 million and $15.6 million worldwide, on reported cost of $100 million.

In fifth place was the Benedict Cumberbatch period thriller THE COURIER with $1.04 million, dropping by 45% from its opening last weekend. The PG-13 fact-based spy story has a ten-day domestic total of $3.4 million.

For the first time in two months, the animated DreamWorks sequel THE CROODS: A NEW AGE slipped off the top half of the chart. The Universal release has been in theaters since Thanksgiving weekend.

On its eighteenth weekend, the PG-rated release was in sixth place with $540,000, bringing it to a $56 million domestic total and $160.9 million worldwide on a reported $65 million cost.

The Liam Neeson action-thriller THE MARKSMAN remained in seventh place with $375,000 over its eleventh weekend, and the R-rated basketball drama BOOGIE followed in eighth with $340,000 for a domestic total of $3.8 million on its fourth weekend in theaters.

Ahead of next month's Academy Awards, the nominated Steven Yeun drama MINARI popped onto the chart for its first time to grab $275,000, giving it a domestic total of $1.8 million.

Superhero sequel WONDER WOMAN 1984 closed out the list for the week, while the Olivia Coleman/Anthony Hopkins Oscar contender THE FATHER moved outside of the Top 10 on its second weekend.

The gigantic beasts won't stomp into domestic theaters until Wednesday March 31, but GODZILLA VS. KONG has already made an impact in other parts of the world.

The colossal conflict from director Adam Wingard (YOU'RE NEXT, THE GUEST) has already collected an estimated $121.8 million from international territories, with China responsible for $70 million of that figure. The creature feature may have cost as much as $200 million.

Warner Bros.' GODZILLA: KING OF THE MONSTERS/KONG: SKULL ISLAND sequel will also simultaneously debut on the HBO Max streaming platform on Wednesday.

Next week also has an Easter weekend offering in the form of the Sam Raimi-produced supernatural horror movie THE UNHOLY, starring Jeffrey Dean Morgan and Cary Elwes.
