NOES script review

Next year, Platinum Dunes is gonna rock the box office again by reviving yet another slasher star from the 80s, Freddy Krueger in their remake of Wes Craven’s A NIGHTMARE ON ELM ST.. Like you, I have my reservations about this remake because a) it’s totally unnecessary, as the original lives up even today as being scary and effective, and b) Platinum Dunes has a track record of remaking flicks that look amazing, but fall below par in terms of quality.

That said, I’m curious about the new NOES, so curious that Latino Review’s review of the script for NOES had me intrigued. How’s it look so far? After watching the video below, I think you’ll be stoked to hear that the script, at least, is scary, and Freddy Krueger is, in fact, one badass motherf*cker–as he should be!

Most names have changed from the original (except Freddy and Nancy), but characters are similiar, and there seems to be quite a lot of time focused on the backstory of Freddy and how he came to be. Focus on backstory and not on killing? Has Platinum Dunes learned from their mistake from FRIDAY THE 13TH and decided to give us more background rather than just more of the same? It appears so… at least on the script side of things!
