Obi-Wan Kenobi series: Liam Neeson would be down to return as Qui-Gon Jinn

There are plenty of new Star Wars projects in the works, but the one that I've been the most excited for is the Obi Wan Kenobi series for Disney+ that will feature the return of Ewan McGregor as the Jedi Master. The series will take place 10 years after the events of Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith, and in addition to McGregor, the series will also feature the return of Hayden Christensen as Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader.

As we've seen more than a few familiar faces pop up in The Mandalorian, there's little reason to believe that Obi-Wan Kenobi won't have a few surprises up its sleeves as well, and one surprise that I believe every fan would welcome would be Liam Neeson reprising his role of Qui-Gon Jinn. Collider recently spoke with Neeson to touch upon his Star Wars role, and although he wasn't aware that fans would love to see him return, his face lit up when asked whether he'd be game to appear in Obi-Wan Kenobi.

Sure, I'd be up for that, yeah.

As Qui-Gon Jinn was the one who taught both Yoda and Obi-Wan Kenobi the secret of retaining their individuality after death (as a Force ghost), there's certainly room for Liam Neeson to return in that regard or perhaps for a digitally de-aged flashback. Although COVID-19 may have other plans, it's expected that production on the series will kick off this spring. "I'm really excited about it," McGregor told ET last September. "It's gonna be great, I think." While The Mandalorian will likely span multiple seasons, McGregor also said that he's not aware of any plans for a second season of the Obi-Wan Kenobi. "As I understand, it's a standalone season," he said. "We'll see. Who knows?" Would you be down to see Liam Neeson return as Qui-Gon Jinn for Obi-Wan Kenobi?
