Well folks, it’s official…it looks like Doug Liman has ALL YOU NEED IS KILL!
Remember back in June when our man Jared P. teased us with the thought that BOURNE IDENTITY and MR. & MRS. SMITH director was in line to adapt the famous Hiroshi Sakurazaka sci-fi novel? Yeah well, it looks like Warner Bros. found their man…for good (according to Variety).
Of course, Liman has FAIR GAME due out later this fall, so we won’t see his adaptation until sometime in 2013. Plenty of time to get (re)acquainted with the joint then, ay?!?
With a script adapted by Dante Harper – The story of ALL I NEED IS KILL is told from the first person point of view of the protagonist Keiji Kiriya. Keiji is a new recruit in the United Defense Force, fighting against the mysterious creatures called ‘Mimics’ which have laid siege to Earth. Keiji is killed on his first sortie, but through some inexplicable phenomenon wakes up having returned to the day before the battle, only to find himself caught in a time loop as his death and resurrection repeats time and time again. Keiji’s skills as a soldier grows as he passes through the time loops trying to change his fate.
Until 2013 then, or at least until further development takes shape, let us know if you dig Liman as the director for this particular property.
