It’s a damn shame that Hammer Films’ THE WOMAN IN BLACK doesn’t come out until February 2012, because I’m pretty eager to see it now. I’m not only thinking about myself here; I’m wagering a host of us want to peek at what the studio has up its sleeve next. Throw into the mix that this stars Daniel Radcliffe in his first post-Harry Potter role, and THE WOMAN IN BLACK is going down as a “must see” in the books of many.
Until its release, we’ll have to make due with a newly opened official site, which you can see HERE. Not much more than a trailer and synopsis – both of which we have for you below – but it’s a good thing to keep tabs on. Plus, it’s rockin’ a nicely eerie vibe, complete with ghostly sounds.
THE WOMAN IN BLACK stars Daniel Radcliffe as Arthur Kipps, a young lawyer who travels to a remote village to organize a recently deceased client’s papers. As Kipps works alone in the client’s isolated house, he begins to uncover tragic secrets, his unease growing when he glimpses a mysterious woman dressed only in black. Receiving only silence from the locals, Kipps is forced to uncover the true identity of the Woman in Black on his own, leading to a desperate race against time when he discovers her true intent.
James Watkins directed THE WOMAN IN BLACK, from a screenplay by Jane Goldman. Shaun Dooley, Cathy Sara, Mary Stockley, Roger Allam, Liz White, Lucy May Barker, Tim McMullan, Alisa Khazanova, Daniel Cerqueira, David Burke and Victor McGuire round out the cast. It hits theaters in both the US and UK in February.
