Oldboy director Park Chan-Wook takes on sci-fi epic Genocidal Organ

Visionary director Park Chan-Wook – the man behind such great films as OLDBOY, SYMPATHY FOR LADY VENGEANCE and STOKER – is currently working on a romantic period piece called AGASSI, about the love that blossoms between two women. If that doesn't sound exactly like typical Chan-Wook territory, his next flick absolutely fits into his wheelhouse.

Park has signed on to direct an adaptation of Project Itoh's Japanese sci-fi novel GENOCIDAL ORGAN, reports The Tracking Board. The highly acclaimed book was published in Japan in 2007 and translated into English in 2012.

Here's the book's synopsis:

The war on terror exploded, literally, the day Sarajevo was destroyed by a homemade nuclear device. The leading democracies transformed into total surveillance states, and the developing world has drowned under a wave of genocides. The mysterious American John Paul seems to be behind the collapse of the world system, and it’s up to intelligence agent Clavis Shepherd to track John Paul across the wreckage of civilizations, and to find the true heart of darkness—a genocidal organ.

Sounds like a decent companion piece to SNOWPIERCER, which Park produced. Hoping more info comes in soon, but what does this mean for SECOND BORN, which Park was attached to direct a couple years ago?
