Omen Leads Cast?

Variety reports today that Liev Schreiber and Julia Stiles are set to step into the parental shoes first filled by Gregory Peck and Lee Remick in 1976’s THE OMEN. Now it’s pretty much impossible for me to support this project regardless of the casting, but if I have to suffer through a new version of a classic, this casting seems solid.

Not many actors out there would have the balls and/or talent to take on a Gregory Peck role, however Schreiber is one that I can buy pulling it off. Especially since he does the transition from normal to losing his freaking mind as well as anybody out there.

As to Stiles, she’s never really jumped out at me, but I’m sure she’ll do a fine job. Besides, it only makes sense that Satan’s mom would have an “outie”.

Pic’s release date is scheduled for 6/6/06 which will no doubt ensure lots ‘o press and protests.
