Looks like Executive Producers Josh Braun and Roger Kass are at it again. After sheparding the outstanding A HISTORY OF VIOLENCE to the big screen, they have now gotten Dreamworks on board for another graphic novel adaptation.
The project is called BUTTON MAN: THE KILLING GAME. Despite the title it does not feature Gary Busey as a homicidal talking button. The actual synopsis goes like this – Button Man is the story of Harry Exton, a professional assassin or ‘button man’, who hears about The Game from a friend. The Game pits trained killers against each other in a brutal battle of wills, with death the only outcome for all but the most ruthless participants.
The players are controlled by the Voices, mysterious and wealthy backers who tell the players where to go and who to meet, and bet amongst themselves on the outcomes of these duels. For the successful player, the financial rewards are extremely attractive – but what happens when a button man tries to leave The Game?
Um, excuse me for a sec while I adjust my pants. Seriously, how sweet does that sound?! Plus the fact that it comes from a graphic novel just ups the likelihood that the big screen version has a better than average chance to live up to its potential.
Tough to judge anything sight unseen, but they’d really have to screw this up to keep me out of the theater when it drops.
