Interview: Jason Momoa and Brian Andrew Mendoza Talk On the Roam

On the Roam is something special. The reality-based series sends Jason Momoa on a global journey. The show is filled with wonderful stories, including a rock band called The Bobby Lees and a variety of artists who have made an impression on Momoa. What really makes the series special is the joy that Momoa truly shows. He and producing partner Brian Andrew Mendoza have found a visual journey that perfectly showcases Mr. Momoa’s charms.

The second season of On the Roam is premiering this Thursday, May 14. Having watched the series, it’s Jason’s passion for music that resonated with me. Hell, the second after the first episode, I went and pre-ordered “New Self” from The Bobby Lees.

The travel documentary is effortlessly enjoyable. Momoa’s journey through each adventure is addictive. I love the stories. It’s incredibly nice to see people given a platform to shine. Another one of my favorite episodes has Jason doing a deep dive into one of his favorite films, the cult classic Basquiat. It’s an exceptional flick.

Recently, I had a fantastic chat with Jason and Mr. Mendoza. I immediately noticed Jason’s shirt. He was sporting The Cramps, so I instantly started talking music. It’s a massively enjoyable conversation, and it’s clear this project is near and dear to both Jason and Brian.

I highly recommend checking out Jason Momoa’s On the Roam. You can check out the season two premiere this Thursday on HBO MAX.
