Those of you hoping to get more of Quentin Tarantino's ninth movie are about to get your wish. It's been announced that ONCE UPON A TIME IN HOLLYWOOD is set to be re-released in select theaters this Friday with four additional scenes.
The new cut will be taking 1,500 by storm just in time for awards season, with Brad Pitt pursuing a Best Supporting Actor nod at this year's Academy Awards, and Leonardo DiCaprio gearing up for a Best Actor nod as well. So far, Tarantino's ninth feature has amassed $366.8 million in worldwide ticket sales, though the film stands to gain a respectable boost to its numbers with an extended cut arriving in theaters this coming weekend.
As it happens, those who were fortunate enough to see ONCE UPON A TIME IN HOLLYWOOD in LA at Tarantino’s Beverly Cinema, have already been treated to a lengthier version of a Bounty Law segment (the TV show starring DiCaprio’s Rick Dalton character). It's suspected that Tarantino's extended take on Bounty Law will be included as a part of the new cut, with other scenes being introduced as well.
“Audiences have shown tremendous support for this movie, and we look forward to offering them another opportunity to see the film as it’s meant to be seen – in theaters on the big screen – with more sights and sounds of the sixties from Quentin Tarantino as an added treat,” said Adrian Smith, President of Domestic Distribution, Sony Pictures Motion Picture Group.
ONCE UPON A TIME IN HOLLYWOOD, both written and directed by Tarantino, centers on the tale of a faded television actor (Leonardo DiCaprio) and his stunt double (Brad Pitt) who strive to achieve fame and success in the film industry during the final years of Hollywood's Golden Age in 1969 Los Angeles.
In addition to this Friday's re-release of the film, ONCE UPON A TIME IN HOLLYWOOD is also set for an October 29 home release.
