One more for Thor

With THOR gearing up to begin filming in just about two months, sets are being built and the cast is being finalized. Just the other day, the Warriors Three were announced and today we get one last piece of casting news for the film. Idris Elba has signed on to play Heimdall, one of the trusted servants of Odin (Anthony Hopkins) and the guardian of Asgard.

In the comics, Heimdall was the brother of Sif and while it’s possible they may keep that angle for the movie, Elba and actress Jaimie Alexander don’t exactly look like siblings. Elba recently wrapped filming on another comic movie, the Warner Bros. adaptation of THE LOSERS. You may remember him also from “The Wire” or his brilliant guest stint on “The Office” as Charles Miner, the executive who causes Michael Scott to briefly launch his own paper company. As previously mentioned, THOR begins filming in Los Angeles this January for a May 20, 2011 release date.
