A24 has released a new batch of character posters for Onslaught, the upcoming action horror movie from director Adam Wingard. The posters introduce the characters played by Adria Arjona, Rebecca Hall, Dan Stevens, Drew Starkey, Alex Pereira, Michael Biehn, Eric Wareheim, and Reginald VelJohnson, offering a look at the colorful collection of characters who will find themselves caught up in Wingard’s bloody super-soldier nightmare. You can check them out at the bottom of this article.
Onslaught hits theaters on September 4, 2026.
The new posters reveal the names of the major characters played by the film’s ensemble cast.
Onslaught follows Celeste, an Army sniper who has left her military career behind to raise her young daughter. Her quiet life is shattered when a rogue squad of genetically engineered super soldiers escapes from a secret military facility. With the dangerous experiments now loose in the desert and threatening her family, Celeste is forced to unleash the skills she thought she had left behind.
The official synopsis reads:
“When a rogue squad of genetically engineered super soldiers break loose in the desert, a badass Army sniper must unleash hell to protect her young daughter.”
The film combines action, horror, science fiction, and creature feature elements, with Wingard returning to the kind of hard-edged genre filmmaking that first earned him attention with A Horrible Way to Die, You’re Next, and The Guest.
Onslaught marks another collaboration between Wingard and writer Simon Barrett, who have worked together on several projects, including A Horrible Way to Die, You’re Next, The Guest, and Blair Witch.
Wingard most recently directed Godzilla vs. Kong and Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire, but Onslaught represents a return to the smaller-scale, more visceral genre filmmaking that defined his early career.
The film is co-financed by A24 and Lyrical Media, with A24 handling worldwide distribution.
In addition to Arjona, Hall, Stevens, Starkey, Pereira, Biehn, Wareheim, and VelJohnson, Onslaught features a cast that brings together established genre veterans, rising stars, and a genuine combat sports champion. Pereira, the UFC light heavyweight champion, brings his real-world fighting experience to the role of The Butcher. Biehn, meanwhile, is no stranger to genre action, having starred in The Terminator, Aliens, The Abyss, and The Rock.
The film has received an R rating for strong bloody violence, some gore, sexual material/nudity, and language. That rating suggests that Wingard isn’t planning to hold back when the genetically engineered soldiers finally go on the attack.
Onslaught will be released exclusively in theaters on September 4, 2026, with A24 handling its worldwide distribution. The new character posters give us a better look at the people at the center of Wingard’s latest action horror spectacle, but the trailer has already made one thing clear: Celeste and the residents of this desert community are going to have a very bad day.
