Orphan now cast

The Hollywood Reporter received word this morning that newcomer Isabelle Fuhrman just scored the role as the orphan in Dark Castle’s upcoming horror flick ORPHAN. Since she’s just a kid, and she hasn’t been in a whole lot, I’m not really sure what to say here, other than… cool. They finally cast the orphan – we can now sit around the campfire and sing coombaya.

For those not ‘in the know,’ ORPHAN goes a little something-something like this: a husband and wife lose a baby and then adopt the eccentric Esther. The 9-year-old appears innocent at first but turns out to have a dark side.

And by dark side, they mean more than just a knack for throwing tantrums, eating lots of candy before bedtime, or a general lack of responding to authority. They probably mean something along the lines of people who meet this orphan eventually die mysterious deaths. Like falling down the stairs… kind of like the whole subplot in CHILD’S PLAY 2, except here I think the orphan really is doing the killing, and not some crazed possessed doll.

Peter Sarsgaard and Vera Farmiga play the parents in the film, which just started filming last week in Toronto. Damn, Farmiga is hot… Anyway, keep it here for more on ORPHAN as production continues.
