Be honest. Did an exclamation point appear atop your head after reading the above headline? If so, it's probably because you're surprised to hear that ANNIHILATION and EX MACHINA actor Oscar Isaac has announced to the world that he'd be down for playing Solid Snake in a METAL GEAR SOLID movie. Of course, this got the attention of KONG: SKULL ISLAND director Jordan Vogt-Roberts, who for some time has been quietly developing a film based on Konami and Hideo Kojima's acclaimed video game series. Granted, Vogt-Roberts has yet to make any major announcements related to the endeavor, though perhaps now that Isaac has voiced an interest in playing its lead character, the ball can truly begin to roll.

Word of Isaac's desire to play the special operations solider was made quite clear while the SHOW ME A HERO alum while participating in IGN's cast roundtable for Netflix's TRIPLE FRONTIER. During his discussion with members of the film's cast, including Isaac, Pedro Pascal, Ben Affleck, Garrett Hedlund and Charlie Hunnam, IGN's Max Scoville asked which video game-turned-film they would want to be a part of. Isaac was eager to respond, and his answer was Metal Gear Solid.

"Metal Gear Solid, that's the one," said Isaac. "I'm throwing my hat in for that one."

Once the recording hit the net, it took no time at all for fan-favorite artist BossLogic to re-post his version of Isaac as Solid Snake.

Apparently, Vogt-Roberts had requested that BossLogic Photoshop Isaac as Snake back in August, when the actor's name was first floated as a possibility for the role. "The full process required to cast an icon hasn’t even started, but … The ball’s in Oscar’s court," says Roberts.

Even though Isaac would jump at the chance to play the lead in a Metal Gear Solid project, he was also quick to admit that video game-to-film adaptations are a risky business by telling IGN, "With the video game thing, I think the trick will be how do you replicate the feeling of what it feels like to play a video game. I think where it goes wrong often is with the plots."

"That's because you can't play a movie," Affleck interjected, to which Isaac responded, "I know, but how do you get some of that feelings of what it feels like?"

Are you hoping to see some movement on Vogt-Roberts' METAL GEAR SOLID project? So you think Isaac would make for a good Solid Snake? Is the Metal Gear franchise too confusing to execute on film, let alone as single feature? I see it as more of a Netflix TV series sort of deal, but that's a whole other bag of cats altogether.
