Oscar nominees Joachim Rønning and Espen Sandberg will direct Spectral

Joachim Rønning and Espen Sandberg’s KON-TIKI was nominated an Academy Award for Best Foreign Language film yesterday. Hot on the heels of that announcement, the directorial duo has been tapped by Legendary Pictures to bring the paranormal military mash-up SPECTRAL to the big screen.

As most recently revised by Jason Rothwell, SPECTRAL’s pitch can best be described as BLACK HAWK DOWN meets GHOSTBUSTERS. The treatmant by Ian Frid involves a special ops group formed to bring down evil ghosts that have taken over Manhattan. Rønning and Sandberg’s deal seven-figure deal will mark their first true foray into Hollywood filmmaking.
