Oscar winners are…

JoBlo.com’s own
Editor-in-Chief, Mike Sampson, was the man on the keyboard last
night, with LIVE
OSCAR UPDATES
that had me cracking up alongside Jon Stewart, who
I believe did another pretty solid job as the maestro this year. And
is it me or does the dude look super-relaxed up there? Maybe
it’s from that habit he picked up on HALF BAKED? Anyway, I won’t
bore you with my two cents on the evening, but needless to say, I
was very happy that the Coen brothers received all that praise after
all their years of superior filmmaking. Go brosephs! Unfortunately
the duo don’t seem as talkative as the many quirky characters from
their films, but hey…you can’t have everything, right?

Another
pitiful "prediction" year for myself this time around, as
I only scored 52/100, despite picking Tilda Swinton off as
"Best Supporting Actress" (I scored 53/100 last year).
We’ll be posting all of your scores from our 8TH ANNUAL OSCAR
PREDICTION CONTEST tomorrow, so stay tuned for that.

In terms of the Oscar
movies themselves, the Coen bros’ NO COUNTRY FOR OLD MEN
ended up with the most wins this year (4), while a surprising film
finished with the second most wins: THE BOURNE ULTIMATUM (3).
Mind you, all three of BOURNE’s awards had to do with sound or
editing…not that there’s anything wrong with that! Only two
other films had more than one victory on the evening, and they were THERE
WILL BE BLOOD
(2) and again surprisingly, LA VIE EN ROSE
(2). ATONEMENT, MICHAEL CLAYTON and JUNO each ended up with only 1
win on their side. Oh well. Another year, another drunken melee
between Jim Law and Johnny Moreno at the JoBlo.com offices (if we
had offices, that is). PS: Jack Nicholson. Should he just stay home
next year? Discuss amongst yourselves.
