In another sign of the times, the 93rd Academy Awards will not be a usual awards show, with it airing live from multiple locations, including the usual Dolby Theater.
Deadline was the first to report the news, publishing a statement from the Academy: “In this unique year that has asked so much of so many, the Academy is determined to present an Oscars like none other, while prioritizing the public health and safety of all those who will participate. To create the in-person show our global audience wants to see while adapting to the requirements of the pandemic, the ceremony will broadcast live from multiple locations, including the landmark Dolby Theatre. We look forward to sharing more details soon.”
While it's too early to tell what the show will ultimately be like, with them so far not having revealed who (if anyone) will host, the fact that the show will happen at multiple locations isn’t unusual given the year. The Golden Globes are going to be hosted bi-coastally, while the Emmy’s had host Jimmy Kimmel on location at the Staples center while the nominees accepted their awards remotely.
