Hollywood legend Peter O’Toole is in final talks to star in THE CHRISTMAS COTTAGE for Lionsgate. The film – named after the painting by Thomas Kinkade – is an autobiographical look at how Kinkade became a painter. O’Toole will play Glen Weissler, a painter himself, who was one of Kinkade’s mentors. By way of a production deal between Lionsgate and Kinkade, a holiday release is targeted.
O’Toole was last seen in VENUS – one of my favourites last year – which earned him his 8th Oscar nomination. He had to know he wasn’t going to beat Forest Whitaker (THE LAST KING OF SCOTLAND), but it was still heartbreaking to see him lose again. Here’s hoping one day soon he gets a statue of his own.
