Platinum Dunes’ OUIJA has been a hot project for a few months now. Many names have been in contention for the director’s chair, including Scott Stewart (LEGION), Sylvain White (THE LOSERS), John Moore (THE OMEN) and Pierre Morel (TAKEN), who took himself out of contention for the gig last month when he signed on to direct the alien invasion thriller EDF. As far as we can tell there’s still no one sitting in that chair, but the producers have some time to make things happen; the flick is scheduled to come out NOVEMBER 9, 2012.
While doing the press rounds for TRON: LEGACY, screenwriters Adam Horowitz and Edward Kitsis spoke (very) briefly about what kind of movie OUIJA is going to be. When asked if it’s it’s to be scary, like THE RING, Horowitz responds with, “No. It’s INDIANA JONES – that kind of tone. It’s a big adventure movie.”
When I think boardgames and adventure movies, I think JUMANJI – hopefully that’s not what we’re talking about here. I’ll just add that I’ve seen TRON: LEGACY (starring Olivia Wilde, below) and we should all hope Kitsis and Horowitz improve their storytelling acumen on OUIJA.
