I haven’t read many horror books in a while, mostly because Stephen King scared the crap out of me with his collection of stories in ‘Skeleton Crew’. One book that’s gotten some attention is the debut novel from Sarah Pinborough entitled ‘The Hidden’ (no, not that THE HIDDEN).
The story is about a woman who wakes up one day and remembers nothing about herself. She slowly begins to rebuild her life, doing things she soon realizes the previous her would never do, but the truth behind her amnesia is much darker than a simple bump in the head. An interesting concept and a total mindf*ck, which is what a good book of this type should be.
Anyhoo, according to the good folks at Dread Central, the rights to the book have been snatched up by Nashville-based Our Thing Productions, whose previous work only involved a few short films, so this is basically their first foray into the big time. Greg McGlurg will serve as producer on the project, and twins John and Paul Buckholts are set to adapt the book for screen. Interestingly enough, I couldn’t find much on either the brothers Buckholts or McGlurg, so this will be an interesting story to follow, to say the least.
