Out gets director

Looks like the Japanese horror craze isn’t dead yet. At the beginning of next year we’re being given THE EYE, THE GRUDGE 3 is currently in the works, and now there’s news from Variety that the Japanese novel OUT is being adapted for the big screen.

New Line Cinema have optioned the 1997 novel by Natsuo Kirino. OUT is a Japan Grand Prix Award winner. They even have a director lined up for the film. That man would be Hideo Nakata, who’s no stranger to Japanese horror.

Nakata is the man behind various horror films, including RINGU, RINGU 2, DARK WATER, THE RING 2, and according to IMDB, THE RING 3. Joe Forte will be writing the script with Amanda Stern, Fred Bodner, and Julie Glucksman all producing.

According to Variety, the novel revolves around a Tokyo woman who murders her abusive husband and enlists three fellow factory workers to cut up and dispose of the body.

I don’t know how to feel about this one. Sure, all those flicks Nakata made were ok, but nothing was great. What’s your take on this? We’ll keep you updated on any OUT news we get.
