Outer Banks renewed for season three at Netflix

One of my favorite guilty pleasures is coming back for a third season. It has been announced that Netflix has renewed Outer Banks for season 3 which means that the Pogues will have more treasures to hunt and bad guys to outsmart.

Outer Banks has been a hit for Netflix since the series premiere. The first season premiered at the start of the COVID-19 pandemic (April 2020) and became a huge hit as escapism TV was being sought to forget about the stresses of the global health crisis. The second season, which debuted in July, held the No. 1 spot globally in Netflix’s Top 10 TV (English) list for the four weeks following its launch, per “Deadline.”

In addition to the renewal news, series regulars Chase Stokes, Madelyn Cline, Madison Bailey, Jonathan Daviss, Rudy Pankow, Austin North, Drew Starkey, and Charles Esten will return for Season 3. Additionally, we’ll be seeing more of Cleo in the upcoming season. Carlacia Grant, who recurred as the character in Season 2, has been promoted to series regular for Season 3.

Created by Jonas Pete, Josh Pate, and Shannon Burke, Outer Banks is a coming-of-age tale that is set on the islands of the same name off the coast of North Carolina and the Bahamas. Self-labeled “Pogues”, the series follows a tight-knit group of local teens struggling to come to terms with the death of their friends after a treasure hunt goes wrong. Some of the characters are also on the run in the Bahamas and back on the trail of gold while the stakes for the rest of the group escalate at home. $400 million is on the line as a newfound secret reunites the group for a new mission in uncharted waters.
