P.A. scares B.O. again!

The overwhelming success of PARANORMAL ACTIVITY is simply just that: overwhelming. This past weekend the film opened wider (but not fully wide) to 760 screens, and managed to f*ck everyone up by raking in $20.2M and taking #3 overall! Nice!

Considering most wide released movies open up on over 3,000 screens, this is a HUGE success! Not to mention that, being an R rated horror movie, it kicked the living shite outta the PG-13 teen thriller THE STEPFATHER in its debut weekend, which only managed $12.2M overall. Always nice to see an R rated flick beat the tar out of a PG-13 rated flick. Maybe this will get studios thinking that maybe PG-13 doesn’t equal more butts in seats…

The way things are going, it appears as though PARANORMAL ACTIVITY will be released even wider next weekend, and if we’re lucky, it’ll kick the shite outta SAW VI and THE VAMPIRE’S ASSISTANT. It’s about time something dethroned the SAW series from Halloween, and what better than a little independant horror flick made for around $10K?

Check out the top 5 box office numbers, and spit some bullets about what flick you caught over the weekend below.

1. Where the Wild Things Are – $ 32.5 Million
2. Law Abiding Citizen – $ 21.3 Million
3. Paranormal Activity – $ 20.2 Million
4. Couples Retreat – $ 17.9 Million
5. The Stepfather – $ 12.3 Million
