Well, Fango just spoke with FRIDAY star, Jared Padalecki (top right), on whether or not he’d be up for another round by the lake. Apparently, Jared wasn’t initially signed up for a sequel option, but here is what he revealed: “I believe they tried to [sign him for a sequel], but then we were like, ‘Well, you’re not going to make another [movie], and if you do, let’s figure it out from there.’ Because I wouldn’t want to come back as the hero. I would love to have one scene and die, and they wouldn’t want to option someone to return just to get killed. Still, if they did a sequel, I would love to be a part of it. I had a great time working with those guys; I just wouldn’t want to headline it again. I’ve told this story of Clay, it was fun and I don’t need to tell it again.”
So, basically, he’s cool with a cameo similar to Adrienne King’s at the beginning of FRIDAY THE 13TH PART 2. I guess that’s cool with me, but I’d like the writers to possibly do a little something different with how Padalecki’s character is used. If there was only one complaint I could have regarding the remake, I’d say it stuck a little too close to the old Jason formula. There weren’t really any fresh surprises like Mr. Zombie did with his re-imagining of HALLOWEEN. Regardless, I’m looking forward to the announcement of the next FRIDAY THE 13TH which is bound to be coming soon.
