Pamela Anderson says Pam & Tommy creators owe her apology

When the Hulu miniseries Pam & Tommy came out last year, Pamela Anderson had to again face scrutiny by way of entertainment. But Anderson refuses to watch the Emmy-nominated series, calling the creators “assholes” who owe her an apology.

In a Variety profile, Pamela Anderson said of Pam & Tommy, “It was just shocking…Tommy probably thought it was funny. I remember Tommy writing me a note saying, ‘Don’t let this hurt you like it did the first time,’ because he had heard through the kids that I was kind of struggling with the idea of bringing this all up again. I don’t think he was portrayed kindly. I just know that I refuse to watch it.”

As far as Pamela Anderson’s portrayal in Pam & Tommy by Lily James, the former Baywatch star can’t offer a definitive comment. She has had zero contact with James, who earned Emmy and Golden Globe nominations for her performance. As the series remains unwatched by Anderson, an email written to her by James remains unread in her inbox.

As much as Pamela Anderson has tried to dodge the publicity of Pam & Tommy–she refused to cooperate with the production–it proved an impossibility, having to drive past billboards across the city. On the promotional materials, Anderson said they made Tommy Lee look like a Halloween costume. With that, one can imagine such an unlicensed costume on shelves: Giant-Donged Mayhem Rock Star.

Pamela Anderson previously said of Pam & Tommy, “It was already hurtful enough the first time…It’s like one of those things where you’re going, ‘Really?’ People are still capitalizing off that thing?” In the trailer for the upcoming documentary Pamela, A Love Story, she says, “I blocked that stolen tape out of my life in order to survive. And now that it’s all coming up again, I feel sick. I want to take control of the narrative for the first time.”

And she’s looking to do just that, remaining hopeful about her future. “No one can ever take me away from me. I’m always going to be OK. No matter what happens, I’ve proven that theory. I know that I can live with nothing. I know I can live with something. I can live in an apartment. I can live in a trailer. I can live in a mansion. I can live in a castle. I’m just OK right here where I’m at.”
