According to Box Office Mojo, the sci-fi horror flick PANDORUM has changed it’s release date; it was sitting on SEPTEMBER 18th, which put it in direct competition with JENNIFER’S BODY. Now, it’s moved back to SEPTEMBER 25th.
While it makes sense to avoid JENNIFER’S BODY, PANDORUM now faces a boatload of competition. Most daunting: the futuristic SURROGATES. Also being released that day are the kiddie musical FAME and THE INVENTION OF LYING, which is from comedy genius Ricky Gervais. Not all of these movies are necessarily vying for the same audience, of course, but it’s definitely a crowded weekend. It will be interesting to see PANDORUM duke it out with SURROGATES, which will most likely receive a much wider release. I know who I’d put my money on.
Two crew members are stranded on a spacecraft and quickly – and horrifically – realize they are not alone. Two astronauts awaken in a hyper-sleep chamber aboard a seemingly abandoned spacecraft. It’s pitch black, they are disoriented, and the only sound is a low rumble and creak from the belly of the ship. They can’t remember anything: Who are they? What is their mission? With Lt. Payton staying behind to guide him via radio transmitter, Cpl. Bower ventures deep into the ship and begins to uncover a terrifying reality. Slowly the spacecraft’s shocking, deadly secrets are revealed…and the astronauts find their own survival is more important than they could ever have imagined.
PANDORUM stars Dennis Quaid, Ben Foster, and Antje Traue (pictured below). Mark your calendars accordingly.
