Paramount pushes

Generally, the first date I hear that a movie’s coming out in theaters, that’s usually the only date I remember for the film. What the f*ck does that mean, you say? It means when studios go ahead and uncle f*ck the film’s original release date to something ‘new and improved’, it’s the first release date that I always remember, and the new release dates that seem to slip my mind. So even when I’m telling you here that there are release date changes, don’t expect me to remember them a month from now…

That said, Paramount has pushed back two of it’s upcoming horror flicks from their original release dates. First up, CASE 39, starring Renee Zellweger and that creepy little girl from SILENT HILL. Originally set to open in October, then November, then mid-February- it’s new and improved release date is now February 22nd, 2008. Sorry to say, with a date like that, it’ll likely suck balls. Which is really too bad, as the bits and pieces I’ve seen of this flick thus far were actually pretty cool. I hit up the set last October, a visit you’ll likely read about right around it’s February release. It looked like it was going in the right direction while I was there, so really… who knows? Could be the sleeper hit of 2008!

Next up on the release date wagon is THE RUINS, starring Jonathan Tucker, Laura Ramsey (below) and Jena Malone. Originally slated for March, it looks like it’s now going to hit theaters April 4th. I don’t know what it is, but movies pushed back from January to February generally seem like their gonna suck, but movies pushed back from spring closer to the summer months seem like they’re actually better than expected. Know what that means? CASE 39 isn’t looking too good right now, while THE RUINS may very well kick a bunch of ass. Nice!
