Paranormal scores

The last I told you all about PARANORMAL ACTIVITY was way back in January. January!

Since then PARANORMAL ACTIVITY has been making it’s way around festivals and the like, and in the process it’s been gaining some serious buzz. The good kind of buzz. Apparently ACTIVITY is supposed to be pretty damn scary, or at least that’s the word on the street.

The movie centers on a young couple that suspects their house is haunted by a malevolent entity. They set up video surveillance to capture evidence of what happens at night as they sleep. Their surveillance and home videos have been edited into this 99 minute feature film. It comes from director Oren Peli.

Well to go along with the crazy positive buzz, Variety are reporting that IM Global have scored some serious coin for PARANORMAL ACTIVITY! Global nailed 29 deals on the flick, and they’re looking to finalize several more! Stuart Ford, IM Global’s topper, had the following to say:

“In 3½ days since we screened it on Thursday night, we’ve probably seen sales volume 30,000 times the cost of the production budget. This has been a mental market… It has been really hard resisting the temptation to sell this earlier. But we had the luxury of being able to wait and wanted to create the right conditions, get all the buyers together.”

PARANORMAL ACTIVITY screened at the Laemmle Theater in Santa Monica and had a massive line, stretching from Fourth Street to Second. Apparently it’s also got a vicious twist of an ending that’ll hopefully stay off this crafty internet. I know I’ll definitely be keeping my ears plugged on any spoiler leaks, so be aware! As soon as we hear anything else on PARANORMAL ACTIVITY, like a release via DreamWorks, we’ll update you.
