PARANORMAL ACTIVITY
(READ OUR REVIEW HERE) had midnight screenings throughout many cities starting last Thursday, and has rocked those cities throughout the weekend. Maybe the ultimate underdog story, the film was made for only $11K, and has been trying to land solid distribution for a couple of years now. After being picked up by Paramount, their first idea was to remake it… luckily that never happened. The next idea is to make it available in some cities, create buzz, then do a thing called DEMAND IT, where you can demand the movie play in your town. Enough demands and Paramount will make it happen.
In order to express his gratitude, director Oren Peli released a video speaking directly to the fans of PARANORMAL ACTIVITY, and to all those who checked it out over the weekend. Let’s just say that guy’s stoked your going to see his movie, and he’s hoping that meetings today go well enough that PARANORMAL ACTIVITY has a chance of a full nationwide release.
Box office numbers haven’t been released just yet, but estimates are closing in around $100,000. Not bad… not bad at all! Check out Peli’s gratitude below, DEMAND IT in your city, and hang tight as we hear about plans for a nationwide release.
