Paris is Repo’d

Paris Hilton has been cast in Darren Lynn Bousman’s REPO! THE GENETIC OPERA for Twisted Pictures/ Lionsgate films. I was going to have this smart-ass intro to this piece of news, building it up to a fantastic climax in which everyone would utter ‘what the f*ck…’ about halfway through with the revelation, but I eventually said screw it and decided to smack ya in the face with bluntness. Paris Hilton. Horror movie. Read it and weep.

The world may be on a Paris hatin’ frenzy right now, but not Bousman, who said that he’s auditioned at least 30 actresses for this role — Paris came in and owned it. She is this role. Wow. I can’t see Paris owning anything except small cities in Arizona and anything with a price-tag. Hired for her ‘singing abilities’, Paris will play Paul Sorvino’s daughter in the flick (Sorvino being the main bad guy of the movie), and she’ll have a few singing montages dedicated solely for her. Super.

Now that the shock has finally set in, it’s probably a perfecting casting choice for this movie right now. Yep, I said it. Perfect casting. Why? Paris is big in the news these days (from going to jail and all), so her being involved with this little movie is going to have websites and TV shows talking about it that normally wouldn’t have anything to do with it, right? That kind of publicity is priceless.

Of course, that obviously didn’t help Lindsay Lohan’s I KNOW WHO KILLED ME over the weekend (a whopping $3M… ouch!), so it doesn’t necessarily mean anything at all… but it could! Sure, HOUSE OF WAX didn’t break records, but it sure was a good time- and Paris had the best death sequence in the entire movie, so that’s saying something… right?
