According to Production Weekly’s Twitter feed, Murray has stepped into the role of gangster “Happy Shannon”, formerly held by British actor Toby Kebbell. The film, set in 1950s Los Angeles, revolves around a down-on-his-luck trumpet player (Rourke) who saves an angel (Fox), or more accurately, “a caged circus freak with angel-like wings growing out of her back” from the clutches of a ruthless gangster (Murray).
With only 140 characters to work with, Production Weekly’s tweet doesn’t get into the why regarding Kebbell’s departure or how we just went from a 27-year-old actor to a 59-year-old in the same role. Oh well. Kebbell will be seen next in THE SORCERER’S APPRENTICE and PRINCE OF PERSIA: THE SANDS OF TIME.
PASSION PLAY is looking to be released sometime later this year.
