Paul Reubens to play The Penguin’s father on Fox’s Gotham

Gotham Paul Reubens Banner

Paul Reubens had a small role in Tim Burton's BATMAN RETURNS as the father of Danny DeVito's Penguin, and he'll be playing the character once again (albeit a different version), this time on Fox's Gotham.

Robin Lord Taylor, who plays Oswald Cobblepot on the series, announced the news during the Gotham panel at the New York Comic-Con, saying "We just found out that I do have a father. And he will be showing up very soon, and he will be played by none other than Paul Reubens, a.k.a. Pee-wee Herman! He’s playing my dad! What! The! Hell!” Unfortunately, there's no details on how big Reubens' role will be or how the character will be introduced.

I only watched a handful of the first season episodes of Gotham before calling it quits, but I've heard solid things about its sophomore season, so maybe I'll give the series a second chance. Are you excited to check out Reubens as Papa Penguin?

The next episode of Gotham airs tonight at 8 PM EDT.
